Releasing the stress patterns within the human form – improving your potential for effortless living

Man and Woman PictureAt the core of our vision is an aligned human being, graceful in posture and movement.

Imagine living in a flexible and balanced body that is free of pain, stiffness and chronic stress. Imagine your body at ease with itself and able to adapt to life’s physical, mental and emotional challenges.

That is what can be expected from Rolfing, the highly respected process of soft tissue manipulation and movement education that balances and realigns your body by releasing tension and strain.

When she developed Rolfing more than 50 years ago, biochemist Dr. Ida P. Rolf. Ph.D. first called her work Structural Integration. It was Dr. Rolf’s theory that the cause of human discomfort, both physical and emotional, may lie in our internal connective tissue and the relationship it has with the Earth’s gravitational field.

When natural alignment of bones and muscles is restored, posture, breathing and freedom of movement improve; pain stress and fatigue are relieved.

A series of 10 goal-oriented sessions re-aligns the different segments of your body by releasing tension held within the connective tissue of the muscles, joints and organs – this is called structural integration. Further sessions can deepen the process if needed.

Rolfing can achieve:

  • improved posture
  • enhanced balance and co-ordination
  • increased flexibility and ease of movement
  • improved performance in sport, yoga, martial arts, dance and musicianship
  • enhanced physical appearance
  • improved self confidence

And can help solve problems with physical symptoms:

  • tight or aching muscles
  • sports injuries
  • (lumbago) back pain
  • neck pain
  • frozen shoulder
  • whiplash
  • carpal tunnel syndrome
  • tennis elbow
  • golfer’s elbow
  • sciatica
  • plantar fasciitis
  • tempero-mandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ)

Practice locations are conveniently situated in Carmel, Carmarthenshire (between Llandeilo and Cross Hands), and in Cardiff (Llandaff North).
